After meeting at the Istanbul New Airport International Terminal and completing the baggage and passport procedures, we will depart for Belgrade at 16.35 with Pegasus Airlines' scheduled flight PC803. As soon as we arrive in the city at 17.15, we will get on the bus waiting for us and go to the center of Belgrade, which is the capital of Serbia today. We will see Ottoman artifacts and traces of former Yugoslavia on our panoramic tour in Belgrade, which means “white city” and was annexed to the territory of the Ottoman Empire by Suleiman the Magnificent. Established at the intersection of the Danube and Sava rivers, the city has the Castle Square, which is a sightseeing park, and the historical Belgrade Fortress; The mausoleum of Silahdar Damat Ali Pasha, known as the “Conqueror of Morea”, in the castle; the Military Museum and the clock tower, the Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Fountain, the Roman Well in the same area; Ruzica Church, the oldest place of worship in the region, the gates of the castle with various names (such as Zindan Gate, Istanbul Gate, Despot Gate, Vidin Gate); the old Turkish quarter under the castle and the Bayraklı Mosque from the Kanuni period; St. Sava Cathedral, an Orthodox place of worship, which has an important place in terms of the relations of the Ottomans with the Serbs; the Old Palace and the New Palace; Nikola Tesla Museum; Stone Square, which was badly damaged in the bombardment during the collapse of Yugoslavia, and St. Mark's Cathedral here; Knez Mihaliova Street, one of the most dynamic places in the city; We will see the Republic Square at the south end of the street, the theater building, the museum building, the Prince Mihailo monument, which has an important place in the struggle for independence of the Balkan countries, and Skadarlija Street, which offers sections from the bohemian life of the city. We will organize an extra Serbian Night Tour with our guests if they wish (45 Eur). Afterwards, we will return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Free time after breakfast; however, our guests will be able to join the Novi Sad, Petrovaradin and Karlowitz Tour with Lunch (60 EUR). After an hour-long bus ride, we will arrive in Novi Sad, the central city of Serbia's Vojvodina region, and see the historical beauties the city has to offer on foot. While walking on the roads that still carry the influence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, you will look at the Petrovaradin Fortress on the opposite bank of the Danube from afar; In Freedom Square, which forms the center of the city, we will see the cathedral built in Neo-Gothic style, the Neo-Renaissance style town hall opposite, and the statue of Svetozar Miletic, the famous politician of the region, standing between the two. We will leave the square and walk a little further to reach the Episcopal Palace. Then we will see the Novi Sad Synagogue, where the entire congregation was killed in the Second World War, and take our bus to the town of Petrovaradin. We will arrive through the Belgrade gate of the town, watch the magnificent view of the Danube in the castle famous for its underground tunnels, and see the area where the Battle of Petrovaradin, which resulted in the defeat of the Ottoman Empire and caused it to begin to withdraw from the Balkan lands, took place. After having our lunch in Petrovaradin, we will take our bus to Karlowitz, one of the most charming and historical towns of the city, with a ten-minute journey. We will go to the hill where the Treaty of Karlowitz was signed, which is considered a turning point for the Ottoman Empire, in Karlowitz, which is located on the banks of the Danube and famous for its vineyards, and we will see the Peace Chapel, which was built in memory of the agreement. Then the first Grammar (Latin language) School established in the town; the library; the Wine Cellar belonging to the Zivanovic family, famous for serving the wines it produces on the Titanic ship; the Patriarchate; the Fountain of the Four Lions; After visiting the St. Nicholas Cathedral, which draws attention with its two towers and striking mosaics, we will take our bus back to Belgrade to rest and stay at our hotel.
Free time after breakfast; however, our guests will be able to participate in the Belgrade Tour from Past to Present (40 Eur), which will be organized extra. During our tour, which includes Tito's Mausoleum, Zemun, Gardoş, and Mount Avala, we will first go to the museum and visit the funerary monuments of Marshal Tito, the founder of the Second Yugoslavia, and his wife Jovanka Tito. During our tour, where we will also have the opportunity to examine the collections around the mausoleum in the garden of the museum known as the “House of Flowers”, he was elected President of Yugoslavia on January 13, 1953 and turned Yugoslavia into a Socialist Federal Republic, became President for Life in 1974, and became President for Life in 1980. We will get comprehensive information about the deceased marshal. Then we will move on to Zemun and Gardoş, which constitute the oldest and most historical parts of the city. After seeing the Magistratski Square and the structures around it, we will go towards Gardoş, where we can look down on the Danube River, and see the tower. After a 45-minute journey by bus, we will go to Mount Avala and to Avala, the city's telecommunication-observation tower. After getting information about the state-of-the-art tower, which was destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999 and reopened in 2010, we will go to see the Unknown Hero Monument, the burial monument built in memory of a Serbian soldier representing all the soldiers killed during the First World War and then lost during the war. When our tour is over, we will return to Belgrade to rest. Overnight at our hotel.
After breakfast, we will complete our check-out process from the hotel and depart for Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport at the time determined by our guide. After completing the baggage and passport procedures, we will depart for Istanbul at 12.15 on Pegasus Airlines flight PC802. Our tour will end when we arrive in the city at 14:55. welcome home!
